Let the New Ones Fall First

Well, here’s the short version: spent three years with one mortgage lender, learned pretty much all there is to know, including gaining underwriting authority. Was recruited by Bank of America, burned out within 5 months, and was thus susceptible to recruitment by Countrywide. Felt safe and secure with all my knowledge of FHA, VA and other California niche programs, so I took the offer…only to be laid off less than 3 months after being hired. In retrospect I believe that I was only hired as a buffer for core employees, with the motto of “let the new ones fall first”. Do I feel like a pawn? Am I bitter, disillusioned? You BET!
