Mr. Zinn, who gave witness to history the authorities tried to obscure, also testified as an expert witness in many civil disobedience trials where he explained how nonviolent direct action helped forge this country's identity. Now with so many of us struggling to make sense of our own economic displacement and society's marked turbulence, what better time to rethinking our own political and socioeconomic conditioning? Our own angst, while certainly real, assumes a different context when viewed from a wider angle. For our world today is deeply scarred by war, earthquakes, want, and greed. And many of us have latent skills that might help.
