Ladies and Gentlemen - fellow professionals. I am computer programmer / administrator with 21 years IBM midrange experience. I’m also the write of Mad in America.

I wrote and recorded the song, because for many reasons I think the American Middle Class worker has been sold out. In the 70s and 80s we were told that computer jobs would replace all of the manufacturing jobs that were going away. In the 90s and beyond we are told re-training will replace all of the computer and engineering jobs - not to mention the millions of manufacturing jobs that have and are going away. Re-training in what ? Another career path that can be outsourced? Mid-Management jobs that get slashed to “flatten management”. We live in an interdependent community in the US - lost jobs mean lost taxes and money to support the infrastructure we depend on. These multi-national corporations need to get that. Our politicians need to get that too or maybe its time to retire the ones that don’t.

Watching people around me in their 50-60s be made redundant so that an H1B worker can take their job makes me crazy - who’s going to hire these folks in their own career level - its called “overqualified” which means you cost too much and I can hire cheaper. Who in hell wants to be retrained at 60 years old - you ought to be thinking about retirement and enjoying your golden years then, not having to struggle to stay alive. Thats why I’m MAD IN AMERICA. Please buy the song - tell your friends about it - make it a statement!
