Got Fired, and Had to Pay Notary Fee Too
by AnonymousLink to article
Been a ’senior electronics technician’ for 35 years, the last 20 doing mostly PWB layout for several employers - 7 years, 3 years, 2 years & 8 years. The last job, the cheeses kept saying ‘times are tough’ for about 5-6 years yet no layoffs per se, while some temps have come & gone, the closest thing I’ve seen to a layoff was about 3 years ago when a group of new hires was let go due to their boss (included) wasting money on a misguided poorly planned project.
I got complacent. Oops. 4/29, just after the monthly company meeting, while I was putting my lunch in the refrigerator, I was accosted, pulled into the all-too-familar small meeting with the cheeses and given my walking papers by the outside hatchet lady.
Not only did I have to sign a release of liability contract in order to get my severance pay (which I’ve yet to receive BTW), if I should criticize my ex- or the staffing company I have to pay the costs of their lawsuit against me. Worse, I had to notarize the damned thing - ever hear of having to pay a notary fee in order to be fired? And OF COURSE there are no other job openings right now…
